Calisthenics skill progressions, checked from the side.
calistgress tracks your handstand, L-sit, pull-ups, dips and push-ups step by step. Prop your phone side-on: the hold timer only counts the seconds your line is clean, and a rep only counts when it goes through the full range.
You cannot see your own line
Calisthenics progress is clean lines and full range: hips stacked over shoulders in a handstand, legs level in an L-sit, a full hang at the bottom of every pull-up.
None of that is visible from inside the movement. Most people film a set, watch it back, and guess whether it counted.
How it works
1. Pick your step
Each skill is a ladder of steps — chest-to-wall handstand before freestanding, tuck sit before L-sit, band-assisted before full pull-ups — each with a target to hit before moving on.
2. Phone side-on
Stand the phone on its side two or three metres away, looking at you from the side, whole body in frame. The pose model runs in the browser; the video never leaves the phone.
3. Hold or rep
Holds count clean seconds only, with a line score for the set. Reps count only from straight arms to the full bend and back; the ones that fall short are named, not counted.
4. It goes in the log
Every set is logged with its numbers and your notes. When a set meets the step’s target, the next step is offered.
What the camera checks
- Handstand
- Wrist, shoulder, hip and ankle in one vertical line.
- L-sit
- Hip angle (shoulder–hip–knee) at 90° or closer, and straight knees.
- Pull-up
- Elbow angle (shoulder–elbow–wrist) from a straight-arm hang to fully bent.
- Dip
- Elbow angle (shoulder–elbow–wrist) from locked out to 90° or deeper.
- Push-up
- Shoulder–hip–ankle straight, wrists under shoulders; elbows from locked to 90° or deeper.

What it cannot see
- One camera sees one side. It cannot see a handstand drifting towards or away from it, or one arm doing less than the other.
- It needs the whole body in frame and reasonable light. When it cannot see a joint, it stops counting rather than guess.
- The thresholds — how straight is straight — are starting values from the geometry of each position, not yet tuned against many athletes. Expect them to change.
